Songfacts®:

  • This piano-based faith ballad finds Turner singing from God's perspective to affirm His presence through all things good and bad. Turner's Christian faith is important to him. He started his music career singing bass and baritone parts in church choirs and later attended Belmont University, which has a Christian-based ethical system. Turner's breakthrough single, "Long Black Train," was inspired by a vision from God and he testified to the I Am Second website: "I don't feel like God called me to be a gospel singer. He didn't call me to be a Christian singer, he called me to be a country singer, and I just happen to be a Christian."
  • The song should not be confused with the similarly titled "I'll Be There," a track from Turner's Haywire album.
