Songfacts®:

  • Over an eerie piano, Joyner Lucas grapples with the hostile tendencies that arise from his ADHD.

They wantin' my soul, they wantin' my blood
I'm out for revenge, I'm out for the ends

Lucas' flow goes from calm to aggressive as the track progresses. By the end he's resolved to war with those who have caused him pain.

You don't know me, I need my revenge, no more peace
I'm rollin' deep and I'm finna turn your block up into World War III
  • The song was first teased in the intro for the music video for Lucas' "ADHD." That clip highlighted society's dangerous reliance on prescription pills.
  • "Revenge" debuted on Beats 1 on February 3, 2020 as Zane Lowe's World Record. "I was in a bad mood when I did that song. It's always fun, man," Lucas told Lowe. "This music stuff to me is always fun. It's not a job to me. It's my life, it's like a hobby."
