  • When Juice WRLD passed away in late 2019 he left behind a huge catalog of nearly 2,000 unreleased songs. The late rapper's estate released "Righteous," his first posthumous single as a lead artist, on April 24, 2020.
  • Rocking a glamorous white Gucci suit, Juice is feeling "righteous" as white is the color associated with virtuous living. However, the rest of the song finds the rapper not so pious. Enveloped with intense feelings of anxiety, he uses pills and codeine to numb his mental health demons. Sadly, Juice's drug abuse led to his death when he overdosed on Percocet pills.
  • Juice recorded the emo-rap anthem in his Los Angeles home studio with his go-to producer, Nick Mira. The rapper's girlfriend, Ally Lotti, recalled that he played it to her that night and they continued to play the cut repeatedly over the next couple of weeks.
  • Juice first teased and titled the mellow tune in the summer of 2019.
