Songfacts®:

  • "Love Song" is Justin Bieber's track about the very process of writing a love song. It's a meta-love letter to his wife, Hailey, where he sings about his desire to craft "a good one you can't stop singing to me." The song feels intimate because you're essentially listening to him build it as he sings.
  • "Love Song" continues Bieber's theme of romantic odes to his wife that began with his 2020 album, Changes, which he said was "super dedicated to and my love towards her."
  • Bieber co-wrote the song with Carter Lang, Dylan Wiggins, Eddie Benjamin, Tobias Jesso Jr., Dijon, Daniel Chetrit, and Mk.gee. Carter Lang, Dylan Wiggins, Eddie Benjamin, Dijon and Mk.gee also produced it.

Mk.gee, in particular, puts his fingerprints all over the track, lacing it with retro-futurist guitar tones that add shimmer to Bieber's vow. He also helped Bieber sow the seeds on the Swag hit "Daisies."
  • "Love Song" is the third track on Swag II. Billboard ranked it as the best out of all 23 on the album, pointing out that it's notoriously hard to make a song called "Love Song" sound fresh, but the track "just might do the trick." It follows the likes of Sarah Bareilles and The Cure in creating a distinctive pop song out of such a challenging title.
  • And yes, Hailey approved. She reposted a screenshot of herself listening to "Love Song" on her Instagram Stories.
