Songfacts®:

  • Kane Brown reps rural life during this rollicking track where he celebrates the people from small towns who live simpler lives than city folks.

    It was RC Cola Cokes
It was blue jeans, skull rings
    Dry, rotted tire swings
And yeah, that's all we know

The Chattanooga, Tennessee native is speaking from the experience of his own upbringing. He told Radio.com that though small town residents don't always have a lot of things going on, "they always find a way to live it up."
  • "BFE" is an abbreviation for "bum f--k Egypt," meaning a location in the middle of nowhere. The term originated in the early 1970s as army slang for a mythical town that is the epitome of remoteness.
  • The song is a track from Mixtape, Vol. 1, an EP where Kane Brown displays his wide musical range. He collaborates with a diverse collection of artists on the set, including Khalid, Swae Lee and John Legend as well as crooning solo some pop-country ballads. This is the countriest track on the EP.

"I like having 'BFE' on there," Brown explained to ABC Audio, "because it's kind of like, 'This is what I grew up on, the nineties sound of country music.' But that's why I called it the Mixtape is because it's like all of my sounds into one."
