Songfacts®:

  • This graphic song finds West idealizing the things he'd like to do to a women in bed as he uses sex as a metaphor for power and ego. The tune turns into a reggae romp as Jamaican Dancehall deejay Assassin crows a couple of verses. Bon Iver's Justin Vernon joins West on the hook and also sings on the bridge.
  • The song is crafted around a sample of R&B singer Kenny Lattimore's "Lately," a track from his 2001 album, Weekend.
  • Though Drake has enormous respect for West's work, he admitted to Rolling Stone that he was ambivalent about Yeezus, including this song's concluding lyric, "Uh, I be speaking Swaghili."

"There were some real questionable bars on there," he said. "Like that 'Swaghili' line? Come on, man. Even Fabolous wouldn't say some s--t like that."

After the interview was published, an angry Drake claimed that he never commented on Yeezus to Rolling Stone despite the quotes that suggested otherwise.
