Songfacts®:

  • This is the debut single by pop music duo Karmin - Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan - who at the time were engaged but didn't get married until 2016. It was written by the duo, with Heather Bright, Kelly Sheehan and helmed by Orlando hip-hop production duo The Runners. The song was released on October 20, 2011.
  • Karmin first gained notoriety from their own interpretations of various rap and pop hits, and this song is about their own musical journey. "Crashing the music world's party. We just thought it was such a cool concept," said Heidemann to Beatweek Magazine. "There's not many songs out there about pulling somebody down who has a giant ego and putting them in their place. It was a fun topic to write about, because most of our other songs are about our story or love or defeating all the odds."
  • The video, directed by James Larese, opens with Amy and Nick behind a keyboard in their familiar position from their YouTube videos. But this time, instead of staying in one spot, they open a trap door and visit various scenes, crashing the party at a karaoke club, a bistro, and a nightclub.
