Songfacts®:

  • Katy B is the performing name of Katie Brien, a London born R&B singer-songwriter and a graduate of the BRIT School. After being pursued by a number of major labels, Brien signed a record deal with Rinse. This synth-pulsing dance tune produced by dubstep legend Benga is her first single with the label.
  • Katy is not related to Stevie B, who had a #1 with "Because I Love You (The Postman Song)." In fact, Stevie isn't even a B - his name is Steven Hill.
  • Katy B has been dubbed by some writers as the 'female face' of Dubstep. However, she told BBC's Newsbeat this song is different to the sort of material she usually works on. Katy explained: "It's not the typical dubstep tune - it's got a lot of melody and structure to it."
She added: "Lyrics wise… usually dubstep always makes me want to write about really dark things. It doesn't make me want to write about happy, love and dancing with my girls.
This track didn't have that feel so I wanted to write about how it feels when you go into a club and there's so much energy in a room - basically putting that into words. It's about how I feel when I go raving with my friends."
  • Katy B is one of a number of famous graduates from the BRIT school. Other alumini who have found success include Amy Winehouse, Jessie J, Leona Lewis and Adele who was in the year above Katy.
