Songfacts®:

  • Singer-songwriter Katy Nichole originally saw music as just a hobby and planned on becoming a medical assistant. Everything changed when Centricity Music signed her in June 2021. This testament of Nichole's belief in the power of prayer is her debut single.
  • Nichole wrote "In Jesus Name (God of Possible)" inspired by her own supernatural healing from a debilitating, years-long bout with scoliosis and depression. She created it from entries in her prayer journal that she wrote in the midst of the COVID pandemic, and in response to her own story of suffering, hope, and healing.
  • Nichole co-penned "In Jesus Name" with Ethan Hulse, David Spencer and Jeff Pardo, three experienced songwriters her label paired her with. When Nichole originally wrote it, it was a different song, titled "God of Possible." As she explained to Billboard, when she posted the bridge to TikTok it started trending, so her label told her to go back in and re-record it as a full song.

Nichole and her three co-writers finished writing it in August 2021. She recorded "In Jesus Name" in December with Jeff Pardo in the producer's chair and released it on January 26, 2022.
  • Momentum quickly built as fans heard the complete song on the radio. It climbed to #1 on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart dated March 26, 2022, becoming the first debut single to top the tally since Anne Wilson's "My Jesus" started its reign in August 2021.
