Songfacts®:

  • Katy Perry declares on this empowering song that women can be complex with a multitude of personality traits.

A big beautiful brain with a pretty face, yeah
A babydoll with a briefcase, yeah
    A hot little hurricane, ha!
'Cause I'm feminine and soft, but I'm still a boss, yeah

Perry said on Instagram: "Hey Hey Hey is one of my favourite songs from Witness and for me, it embodies the fighting spirit I always want you to be able to find within yourself, and to see in me."
  • Katy Perry wrote the song with Sia and Sarah Hudson. The latter is a singer-songwriter and a member of the pop group Ultraviolet Sound, who previously helped the Californian pop star out with "Dark Horse."
  • The track was produced by hitmaking noisemaker Max Martin and his fellow Swede Ali Payami. Sia, Martin and Payami all contributed to Witness' lead single "Chained to the Rhythm."
  • The whispered backing vocals at the end are courtesy of Norwegian singer-songwriter Astrid S, who has also featured on songs by Avicii ("Waiting for Love") and Shawn Mendes ("Air").
