Songfacts®:

  • "Nunya" is a blunt way of saying "none of your business." The word was first used during the 1998 Disney Channel Original Movie Brink, when the titular character's reply to his little sister Katie inquiry about the gear in his backpack:

    Nunya…nunya business.
  • Here, Kehlani is telling her former lover who is snooping around that he has no business inquiring about her newfound freedom.

You put on a show 'cause you don't want the world to know
That you lost the girl who got it on her own
It'd be good for you to let it go, let it go, let it go
    Ain't nunya business

Their relationship was ruined when the guy got too friendly with other women. Now that Kehlani has found someone else, she tells her ex he needs to just put the past behind him and forget about her.
  • Los Angeles-based rapper Dom Kennedy drops a verse as Kehlani's ex, in which he gives his side of the story admitting that he only has himself to blame for their breakup.
  • The song was written by Kehlani with Dom Kennedy. It was produced by producer/rapper Hit-Boy, whose other credits include "Niggas in Paris" by Jay-Z and Kanye West and "Drop The World" by Lil Wayne and Eminem.
  • The song's music video features the 7-month pregnant Kehlani strolling through snow-covered woodland and celebrating her newfound freedom as she parties in a mountain retreat. Dom Kennedy features riding shotgun in the singer's car as well as rapping his guest verse on a balcony.
