Songfacts®:

  • Untitled Unmastered opens with this unabashedly apocalyptic track with references to the biblical Book of Revelation and its Judgment Day trumpets. The song is a warning to humanity, as Lamar condemns humankind for its wrongdoings and destructive ways, warning us that if we continue to sin, Judgment Day (the apocalypse), will be upon us soon.
  • Kendrick Lamar has never been one to shy away from religion in his music and his faith is referenced at least once on every Untitled Unmastered track. "He has a spiritual side," Lamar's Top Dawg Entertainment manager Terrence "Punch" Henderson told Billboard magazine. "He has a belief in God that's strong, a faith that's strong. Of course that's going to come out in what he does because all his music is from him so every part of him is coming out. It's all a part of growing up, being a man and putting your real self out there."
