  • Chesney told Newsweek about this self-penned song, which he wrote in the aftermath of the breakdown of his four-month marriage to the actress Renée Zellweger. "In 2006, I was probably as emotionally and mentally exhausted as I'd ever been," he said. "And that was due to a lot of things - having the foot on the gas pedal constantly, and my breakup with Renée Zellweger. I got in a plane and went down to the Virgin Islands. I was completely by myself. I didn't want to be around anybody. So the next thing you know, it's me and a pen and I sat down and wrote a lot of lines of this song, 'Nowhere to Go, Nowhere to Be.'"
  • Newsweek asked Chesney if he was worried about writing about his break-up with Renée. He replied: "It's the truth. It's my life. I've been in a lot of states of mind in the last three years. In that way, it's a pretty honest record. I've let myself be more emotionally vulnerable in some of the lyrics. I think that was good therapy."

  • Diane from NyThe novel is called “To Have and Have not” —- not “ the haves and have nots” Chesney is illiterate- how dare he try to insert real literature into his cliche lyrics- No wonder Renee cited fraud.
  • Brian from Roland, OkI'm a huge fan of Kenny Chesney's music, especially his early music, but, what I'm about to tell you changed the way I know in my heart about Kenny, my dad passed away a few years back, and I used one of his song's at my father's funeral, after using the song its an unspoken tradition that you should pay for someones' services in times like these, whether its expected or not, ethically its the right thing to do, so I paid my friend and his mom for singing their song, which they were reluctant to receive and I mailed a check to Kenny Chesney's fan club for 50.00 dollars along with a letter of why I did it. I then called his club and I don't remember the persons name I dealt with but Im sure they got tired of me calling, these calls went on for several weeks until I was sure they received my check. THIS IS THE BEST , WELL ALMOST THE BEST PART THAT STILL SENDS CHILLS DOWN MY SPINE AS I WRITE THIS, it wasnt long after his fan club said they got my letter and would see that Kenny got it, until I received a letter in the mail from KENNY CHESNEY...... I opened the mail not knowing what on earth it could be and when I opened the envelope the first thing I saw was the check I had sent with the words "Void" across the check(handwritten, not stamped), and I then realized what had just happend. Along with my check was a HANDWRITTEN letter from Kenny Chesney himself, I couldn't believe that this man took the time out of his busy day to actually write a handwritten letter to me, I was overwhelmed to say the least. In a nutshell the letter stated that it was people like me that made him do what he does and that that was worth more than any amount of money.......I have showed this letter to soo many people and an old girlfriend of mine still has it, I let her keep it unknowingly to her, because I knew that letter would be better taken care of in her home and when I settle down I'll call and hopefully retrieve that letter. KNOW HERE'S THE BEST PART, MY ex wife and I attended fan fair in Nashville and it was after I had written the letter and received the letter from Kenny. So, when we went to fan fair I was in Kenny's fan line and when it was my turn to get to speak and have my pic made with him I said I know your not going to remember me but I used one of your songs at my father's funeral and wrote you a letter and his exact words were "your wrong, I do remember the letter and your the second person to use that song, the first was a lady that had a relative die on TWA Flight 800, " and then he went on to say "did you get your check back?" and I jokingly said no I never got the check back and if you could have seen the look on his face, I then said "gotcha, I got the check back" and he said "I started to say" and we both started laughing and having a great time and the whole time the staff was like giving us a hard time because each person can only spend a max of 2 min. with each artist due to the volumes of people at fan fair and I spent about 7 or 8 minutes kicking it with my boy KENYY CHESNEY, THANKS KENNY, I WILL FOREVER BE INDEBTED FOR YOUR KINDNESS, BC OF OKLAHOMA
