Songfacts®:

  • In this song, Kesha warns her new man, who has a history of cheating, that if he does that to her, she's going to hunt him down and kill him. Inspired by outlaw country music, it's a role reversal from songs where the brokenhearted guy threatens the girl who cheated on him. Kesha calls it her "feminist, tongue-in-cheek response to all the outlaw cowboy songs from the male perspective about cheating women."
  • Kesha wrote this song with Rick Nowels, who also played various instruments on the track. His other credits include co-writing "Standing Still" with Jewel and "Green Light" with John Legend.
  • Kesha told Q magazine the story behind the song:

"I was listening to a lot of outlaw country from male singers. I remember listening to a song where a guy was talking about how he had his revolver in his pocket and he's going to shoot the girl because she was sleeping with his best friend. I was like, OK, well if a man can say that, then I'm going to write a song about how if you cheat on me, I'm gonna kill you."
