Songfacts®:

  • With the economy in rough shape, the Dance music diva Kristine W (Kristine Weitz) found herself working harder than ever to earn a living. For "Everything That I Got," she teamed with the UK production duo Bimbo Jones (Lee Dagger and Marc Jacobs), who she met at the Winter Music Conference in Miami. When Dagger flew in from London to write with Kristine, she learned that she wasn't the only one stretched thin. "He just literally said, you know, I feel like I'm doing everything now, I'm marketing myself, I'm doing this," Kristine told us. "I said, Yeah, I am working everything that I've got to try to make a dollar. And when I said that, it was like, Wow, if we're feeling this, probably everybody on the planet is feeling this way. We need to write a song about this."

Kristine drew from her experiences moving from rural Washington State to Las Vegas, where she got her own show at The Hilton. She writes her songs to have a universal appeal, however, and the song became an anthem of perseverance for her fans. "These are pretty trying times for many folks, performers included. I hope my music helps to lift people's spirits and also gets them moving on the dance floor, at the gym, in their cars and living rooms," she said. (Here's our full interview with Kristine W.)
  • This was one of the new songs on Kristine W's compilation album New & Number Ones, which features remixes of some of her 16 #1 Dance hits. In addition to their work on this track, Bimbo Jones contributed remixes to "Room at the Top" and "Feel What You Want."
