Songfacts®:

  • Written by Kyuss guitarist Josh Homme, this song is about the life, pains, and lust that come from being a prostitute. It preceded the popular hip-hop song with the same title by seven years.
  • Nick Olivieri was the bass player for Kyuss at this time. He and Homme, along with drummer Alfredo Hernández (who joined the band in 1994), formed Queens Of The Stone Age in 1997. When they named their new band, they did so with the intention of scaring off the homophobic fans they saw in their days with Kyuss. >>>

  • Blues for the Red Sun was Kyuss' second album. It was co-produced by Chris Goss of Masters of Reality, who says that the band was in their sweet spot when they recorded it. "They just threw it down, and it was a blast," he said. "Absolute pleasure."

Goss says that this energy carried into their next album, Welcome to Sky Valley, but by the time they recorded their 1995 album ...And the Circus Leaves Town, the vibe had shifted, portending the end of the band.

  • Jake from Singapore, Singapore"Wretch" was Kyuss' first album and it also featured Nick Oliveri on bass. It also kicks ass.

  • Matt from Houston, Txman, I guess there aren't as many kyuss fans as I remember.
