Songfacts®:

  • This sprawling ballad finds Paul Klein expressing his undying appreciation for a person who entered his life during a difficult time. The person put him back together and now he feels incomplete without them. Klein told the UK newspaper The Sun: "I wanted to write a grandiose epic love song that could be about anything or anyone. I'm usually pretty detailed in my songwriting - specific scenarios or physical attributes - but I left those things out so the song was more universal."
  • This is the third promotional single from Lany's third studio album, Mama's Boy. Thematically, the record is a tribute to home, heritage and Americana, with songs that, according to the band, highlight what's "symbolic of being an American kid" today.
  • "You!" features the Heritage Hall Kids Choir on the back half of the song.
  • Klein wrote the song with the songwriting power couple Sasha Sloan and King Henry. The pair contributed to most of the tracks on Mama's Boy, including its lead single, "Good Guys."
  • Norman, Oklahoma-based producer Chad Copelin helmed the track with King Henry. Copelin has also worked with Bronze Radio Return, Third Eye Blind and All Sons & Daughters.
