  • One of the unique aspects of the Christian religion is that its followers live by grace rather than a list of rules and moral precepts. This is because God showed His Amazing Grace for depraved mankind by sending his Son to die on the cross for their sins - God's Riches At Christ's Expense.

Here, Lewis Capaldi notes the brilliance of the love of a fellow human, whose grace has 'saved' him.

I was only just a breath removed from going to waste
Till I found salvation in the form of your grace

Capaldi explained that the song is about being with someone who makes all the rubbish in his life feel irrelevant. "There's something class about finding someone who can do that – you don't know what you were doing or how you felt before," he said. "That's where the line about finding salvation in the form of your grace comes from."
  • Originally released as a single from Capaldi's second EP Breach, "Grace" was later included as the opening track from the singer's debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent.
  • The "Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent" album title is a lyric from an unreleased song.

"There was a three-month period in music where I was taking things too seriously and I was getting in my own head about things," Capaldi explained to NME. "Writing that song - it's called 'Figure It Out' - it was just about the pursuit of wanting to do something good and be good at something."
