Songfacts®:

  • This song is about growing up and transforming from a girl to a woman. It's from a 2004 comedy film called Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen starring Lindsay Lohan as Lola, a teenager who just moved to a city she's never been to.
  • "Drama Queen (That Girl)" was written specifically for Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen by the New Zealand-born songwriter Pam Sheyne and her co-writer Bill Wolfe. Sheyne is best known for co-writing Christina Aguilera's 1999 hit "Genie in a Bottle."
  • Lohan's music career kicked off with "Ultimate," which she recorded for her 2003 movie Freaky Friday. After releasing "Drama Queen (That Girl)" in early 2004, she put out her first solo album, Speak, later that year. It sold over a million copies in America thanks in large part to airplay on Radio Disney. Lohan put out another album the next year, but music took a backseat to acting from that point forward.
  • The song was produced by Matthew Gerrard, who was fast becoming Disney's go-to songwriter at the time. He had already produced for Hilary Duff and Raven-Symoné, and he went on to write songs for the High School Musical franchise. He also co-wrote Kelly Clarkson's hit "Breakaway."

  • Morgan from Snellville, Gawell she is NOT a good singer but atleast her songs can be about something unlike most of these girls singers today.
  • Melanie from Milwaukee, Wii saw her in the new herbie movie and I wondered why she didn't learn some driving tips from that movie? Maybe she was to busy acting like she could drive to realize she can't. Althought she is a good singer/actress she needs to go back to drivers ed.
  • Casie from Denver, CoI think she is a fantastic singer and actress but when she was announced as a singer on MTV I just dont think that rumors would of bin the greatest first video. It could ob been something less sluttier.
  • Stephanie from Denver, CoShe is an awful singer. She should stick to acting (or maybe not)
