Songfacts®:

  • In 1997, Christine McVie quit Fleetwood Mac and returned to her native England; she wanted to be near to her sick father and in addition, a fear of flying made touring difficult. It was only after she overcame her anxiety about being in a plane that McVie felt able to return to the fold and she signed up for the band's 2014–15 On With the Show world tour. She explained to The Sun: "Carnival Begin is about me coming back into Fleetwood Mac and joining the circus again."
