Songfacts®:

  • The first single to be released from Wanderlust, Little Big Town debuted the island-infused tune during the May 24, 2016 season finale of The Voice.
  • Wanderlust is made up of eight songs written by Little Big Town and Pharrell Williams, who is better known for his work with R&B and hip-hop artists. "What started out as one writing session a few months ago turned into multiple writing sessions, as well as back-and-forth trips from Nashville to Los Angeles," LBT's Karen Fairchild explained. "When the songs started coming together, we realized it was too special to not share with our fans. Pharrell loves country music and is a huge fan of harmony. That shared passion and appreciation took us on a creative journey we had no idea would happen."
  • Little Big Town's Phillip Sweet and Karen Fairchild explained the project's title.

Sweet: "Wanderlust just kept showing up. It was like, it seemed to be the, I don't know, the mantra of what we were all exploring and being adventurous, new ideas, new paths to go, and it was the wanderlust of that just felt perfect. It kept showing up. When we were in L.A., right, didn't you see a billboard, Karen, that said it?"

Fairchild: "Yeah, I just kept in one day, it was like, somebody handed me a T-shirt that said 'Wanderlust,' and then everything, I opened a book and it said 'Wanderlust,' and I was like maybe that's what this is.' We kept talking about beginnings and discover and adventure, and it just seemed like it was the perfect fit."
