Songfacts®:

  • Released on November 27, 2020 as a single for the Christmas market, this song finds the Little Mix girls moving on following a breakup. While not a festive song, the sentiment is relevant for the 2020 COVID pandemic when many had been left heartbroken at not being able to see loved ones.
  • The song is a collaboration with Nathan Dawe. He co-produced the track with Tre Jean-Marie, who previously worked with the British DJ on his hit single "Lighter."

Dawe said it represents a different sound for the quartet. "Little Mix haven't really been on a song that sounds like this – it's so bass-heavy," he told The Sun. "But we've managed to mix their pop element and my bass, house element really well."
  • Little Mix's Jade Thirwall wrote the song with MNEK, who also co-penned and produced the girl band's previous single, "Sweet Melody."
  • Though Jesy Nelson left Little Mix in November 2020 for health reasons, she is still credited on "No Time for Tears." According to co-producer Tré Jean-Marie, her vocals were sung by an impersonator.

"Fun Fact," he wrote on Instagram Stories. "All of Jesy's BVs [backing vocals] (and even one of the leads) on 'No Time for Tears' are somebody else impersonating her because she was quite literally over it."
  • Little Mix performed the song live for the first time during their April 9, 2022 concert at Belfast's SSE Arena. The show, the first date on their Confetti tour, saw the girls debut live several other songs, including "Happiness," "Love (Sweet Love)" and their Galantis and David Guetta collaboration "Heartbreak Anthem."
