Songfacts®:

  • Written by the LoCash duo Preston Brust and Chris Lucas with Corey Crowder and Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard, this good-time anthem is all about kicking back and enjoying yourself at a party with all your friends.

    It feels like a party
It feels like a damn good time to me
A bunch of country girls and back road boys
All here to drink and sing
So go on pour me something cold
Cause we ain't bout to leave
    It feels like a party
It feels like a party to me

The song's feel-good lyrical content is typical of LoCash, who don't do heartbreak. Instead the duo chose to focus on the upbeat, which is a tip of the hat to how they live their lives. Said Lucas: "We stuck with the LoCash mentality, man. There's a lot of stuff behind the scenes - a lot more ups and downs. But we keep it positive."
  • The song actually began in a pretty dark place when Preston Brust and Chris Lucas were in the midst of trying to extract themselves from their contract with the Revive label. On the way to their writing appointment with Corey Crowder and Tyler Hubbard, the LoCash pair had been on the phone with the attorneys and managers.

"Not a lot of fun," Brust recalled to The Boot. "We come in, and I guess we looked a little beat down, a little jaded."

Crowder and Hubbard tried to cheer the duo up, pointing out the bigger picture. They told the LoCash pair: "If you could just see to the end of the tunnel here, when you get past all this, it's gonna feel like a party."

A lightbulb went off in Brust and Lucas's head. "We were like, 'Ding! We should write that song!'" Brust recalled.
