  • In "Lord It's a Feeling," London Grammar vocalist Hannah Reid assumes the role of a discerning observer who is anything but impartial. She exposes the transgressions of a heartless and unfaithful lover of a friend, unveiling his callous acts with lines like, "I saw the way you laughed behind her back." However, the narrative takes an unexpected turn as Reid fearlessly admits, "I can admit that I have been right here myself."

The once-detached observer now assumes the role of an accuser, demanding accountability.
  • The lyrics paint Hannah Reid's heartbreak when witnessing her friends trapped in suffocating toxic relationships. "I saw it too many times and do get very affected," Reid told NME. "I think I am a bit of an empath and I obviously have had experiences like that myself as well."
  • "Lord It's A Feeling" marks a milestone for London Grammar as they introduce their first curse word in a song. "I think when I say that word you can hear that I'm a bit, 'Should I be saying that?' But I did. I did say it. It's there," Reid jokes over Zoom to Billboard from her home in London. "When I'm speaking it probably just sounds like the Queen swearing. It just came out and if it comes out in the writing process, then I'm going to keep it. You can't censor yourself in art."
  • Described by The Independent as a song that exudes frustration, if not outright anger, Hannah Reid affirms the sentiment with a playful laugh. "Oh, let's go with 'angry,'" she asserts. "That would be totally fine. It's a powerful expression of female solidarity. I wanted to lend a voice to those who have endured similar experiences. I've heard that story countless times from my girlfriends, and it's empowering to write songs that transcend my own narrative and shine a light on someone else's story."
  • London Grammar recorded "Lord It's A Feeling" for their third album, California Soil. They produced the track with additional production by London producer George Fitzgerald. The London producer also contributed to the writing of two other California Soil cuts: "Lose Your Head" and "Baby It's You."
  • British DJ Goddard recorded a remix for London Grammar's collection The Remixes. "'Lord It's a Feeling' was originally a song that was kind of built from a loop," Reid told BBC Radio 1's Clare Amfo. "And we tend to find that songs that do come from loops originally lend themselves really well to electronic music, especially drum and bass. So, Goddard was just the perfect person to do a remix of 'Lord It's a Feeling.' He absolutely smashed it."
