  Sparhawk is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), as was Mimi Parker before her passing in 2022. The LDS Church teaches that the Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead, along with God the Father and Jesus Christ. He has several roles, including calming our fears and filling us with hope.
  
  The lyrics of "Holy Ghost" are about the power of the Holy Spirit to transform lives and bring peace, hope, and joy.
• Mimi Parker took more lead vocals on The Invisible Way than on their previous few albums. "I was just writing a lot more," she told Uncut magazine. "Alan was really encouraging me to step up a little bit. I had fun working these songs out. There's one song, Holy Ghost, that Alan actually wrote, and we recorded the demo with him singing it. It was really beautiful, but he had been pushing me, maybe you should sing lead on a few more songs. I finally said,. 'Alright.' We change the key and I just sang it. It worked out. It's actually one of my favorite tracks."
• Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy produced the album. "'Holy Ghost' is a great example of their patience and control that Mim had, yet it's so inexpressibly moving," he explained. "The slower they would play the more cohesive the song would become, almost like they were working with a force that had more to do with geological time than human time."
• So how did Low end up working with Tweedy? "People would say to us, you really should work with Jeff," Sparhawk told Uncut. "Finally, our schedules just came together, and some time opened up. But we already had a relationship, and we're familiar with the Wilco aesthetic and how these guys make it happen. We knew it was going to be a good fit for us. Jeff is really such a friendly easy-going guy,, and he knew that we've been doing this a long time. He wasn't going to come in and overhaul the whole thing, but he just had a few things here and there. It was actually really refreshing and nice. Honestly, though it would be really interesting to go in with a producer, whose very hands-on, just to see what there you would do."
• Mavis Staples covered "Holy Ghost" in 2013 for her One True Vine album. Tweedy produced that record as well. "I was happy to be the facilitator of Mavis covering the song," he said. "I think that meant a lot to them."
