Songfacts®:

  • The last two tracks on What You See Is What You Get are both inspired by Luke Combs' romantic partner, Nicole Hocking. He penned this sweet love letter while touring as Nicole waited for him back home. He tells her he's seen something wonderful views, such as "the mountains over Tennessee," and the "Carolina sky that was so blue." But nothing compares to the sight of her.
  • Combs explained during an album preview that the song was inspired by the ways in which life as a touring artist tested his relationship with Nicole.

"Before she stopped working that was really hard, because she was working a 40-hour-a-week job. I can't even begin to explain the toll [being away from her] takes on a relationship," he admitted. "I was constantly gone, and constantly leaving her, but I took a lot of solace in the fact of knowing I was coming back to her, too."
  • Luke Combs previously wrote "Beautiful Crazy" about Nicole. That song was penned by him before they even started dating.
