Songfacts®:

  • Mabel has experienced confidence issues and anxiety all her life. For a long time, she felt embarrassed to talk about her issues; it was just before a writing session with MNEK, when Mabel was feeling especially low, that she came to the realization that her anxiety doesn't reflect weakness and is nothing to be ashamed of. Instead, she was going to write about how she feels, hoping that would encourage others to be open too. That became this song.

Mabel recalled to Apple Music: "Even on the day of the session, I woke up and thought I either get up, get dressed, put make-up on and then struggle for eight hours or I just cancel the session. And then I realized that I did have a magical third option which I'd never thought about before: just go with my feelings and be honest."
