Songfacts®:

  • This tropical house track is the title track of Major Lazer's Know No Better EP. It was released on June 1, 2017, as the record's lead single.
  • The song features verses from rappers Quavo and Travis Scott. Cuban-American vocalist Camila Cabello croons the hook in which she sings about a guy who thinks he's different than the rest.
  • Major Lazer produced the song along with:

Hitmaker Benny Blanco, who has also worked with the likes of Ke$ha ("TiK ToK") Katy Perry ("California Gurls"), Bruno Mars ("Grenade") and Justin Bieber ("Love Yourself"). He also collaborated with Major Lazer on their international smash "Cold Water."

Philip "Jr. Blender" Meckseper who also worked on Ellie Goulding's Delirium album.

Henry "King Henry" Allen, who also contributed to "Cold Water."
  • The lyric video features footage of the song title being photocopied and passed around to different people from around the world. The clip represents the EP's worldly sound as Major Lazer add dancehall, afrobeat and soca flavors to their dance pop mix.
  • The song's music video was directed by Philip Andelman, whose also filmed clips for the likes of Taylor Swift ("Safe and Sound," "Begin Again"), Meghan Trainor ("Lips Are Movin") and Selena Gomez ("Slow Down"). The clip tells the story of a science student with dreams of dancing. Diplo, Cabello, and Travis Scott, all make cameo appearances, but Quavo is missing.

"For me, Major Lazer is the ne plus ultra of dance music videos," said Andelman. "It's always been a dream of mine to work with them and be included in their insane canon. Which is where the idea for the video started, with a daydream."

"I used to space out all through high school about being the sickest guitarist in the world to impress girls but all I could play in real life was a quarter-speed version of Slash's solo from 'Sweet Child o' Mine,'" he continued. "I thought it could be fun to do a video that married a kid's daydream of being a Major Lazer backup dancer (i.e. the ultimate goal for any dancer out there) with the reality of quotidian ass-kickings and unbearable siblings."
