Songfacts®:

  • The first single from Mallory Knox's Asymmetry album, this was penned by bassist Sam Douglas. Vocalist Mikey Chapman told Kerrang! magazine: "The way Sam wrote it was that you're haunted by this image of someone... A ghost. It's about a presence when there's no physical person there."
  • Sam Douglas explained the Asymmetry album title to HMV.com: "We'd talked about it for a while and we couldn't agree on it," he said. "It was quite low-key, I thought of the word and put it to everyone in our Whatsapp group and everyone went for it."

"I like it because I feel like so much as happened to the band, we've signed to a major label, toured the world and we've been through lots personally, deteriorating relationships, keeping up friendships, how hard that can be when you're away," Douglas added. "So to me, the title says we're still the same people, but our circumstances are completely different."
  • Mikey Chapman told Artist Direct: "'Ghost in the Mirror' was one of the very first songs we completed writing from Asymmetry. It was also one of the last vocals I finished in our first studio before it burned down - that's a story for another day."
