Songfacts®:

  • Written by Maren Morris with Canadian singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards and Kacey Musgraves' Golden Hour producer Ian Fitchuk, this understated ballad finds the singer listing the lengths she'd travel to ensure the happiness of Ryan Hurd, her husband at the time (they split in 2023).

I'll sway like a tree when you need a change
We'll travel the world or stay in one place
You've got the love of a good woman

The pledge of spousal support found Morris at her most vulnerable. She explained to Taste of Country that while her husband is comfortable in saying how much he loves her, "I don't know if it's the Texan in me or what, but it takes a lot of heat to melt this ice."
  • Morris told Billboard that this espousal of love for her man was a hard co-write, as she'd never previously penned such a direct love song where she's saying, "I will be there for you."

Morris added that in the past she'd get freaked out if she felt a lyric was too cheesy, so she'd previously avoided writing love songs. But after marrying Ryan Hurd in March 2018, the singer had been so inspired by love that she "wanted to really open myself up to the idea that I could say these things honestly without being earnest."

She concluded: "It's hard being vulnerable, it's hard to break that shell. But it ended up being one of the most emotional co-writes and recordings of the album."
