Songfacts®:

  • Maroon 5 show their funky side on "Give A Little More," the second single (following "Misery") from their third album, Hands All Over. Frontman Adam Levine penned the song with keyboardist Jesse Carmichael and guitarist James Valentine.
  • This is one of many Maroon 5 songs where Adam Levine is in a stew over a girl. That became his brand starting with their 2002 debut album, Songs About Jane, which really was filled with song about (or at least inspired by) his ex-girlfriend. When "Give A Little More" was released in 2010 he was dating the model Anne Vyalitsyna, who you'll recognize if you picked up a copy of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue any time from 2005-2014. Levine hasn't assigned her as the muse for this song, but she was for their next single, "Never Gonna Leave This Bed." In the video for that one, they share a bed in some very public places.
  • Maroon 5 enlisted Mutt Lange, who was coming off work on Nickelback's Dark Horse album, to produce the Hands All Over album. Lange was into his fifth decade of production work by this time, and he could still add a radio-friendly gloss to the songs he worked on. Maroon 5 turned to younger producers, particularly Benny Blanco, moving forward, resulting in hits like "Moves Like Jagger" and "Sugar."

  • Megan from Stevenson, AlOMG! My band was on the way to a football game and this came on the radio and, of course, as much as a Maroon 5 freak as I am, I started screaming...I just love them so much! Who could possibly blame me! Look at 'em!
