Songfacts®:

  • This uplifting power ballad finds Martina singing about a man providing emotional support for his wife who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The song was added to Country radio on July 26, 2011.
  • Nashville songwriter Ben Hayslip penned the song along with husband and wife singer/songwriters Sonya Isaacs and Jimmy Yeary. Sonya and Jimmy met in 2009 and got married after just a few months of dating. Their rapid romance was the inspiration behind Rascal Flatts' single, "Why Wait," which Yeary co-wrote with Tom Shapiro and Neil Thrasher. Other songs the couple have written with Hayslip include Heidi Newfield's single "Stay Up Late."
  • McBride has never had cancer, but wanted to sing the song to give hope and positive messages to those going through the struggle. She said it "takes a lot of strength and a lot of love to get through something like that."
  • The video features three survivors of breast cancer, Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts, singer Sheryl Crow and Today anchor Hoda Kotb. ABC's Katie Couric, whose husband died of colon cancer, also appears in the clip.
  • Martina has a happy marriage to her husband, John McBride and she told Taste of Country that she relates to the man providing emotional support for his wife on this cut. "When I sing the song and really connect with it, it is through the husband," she said. "It's through that chorus that says 'When you're weak, I'll be strong.' I feel like that's such a powerful message and it's just something that I think is so beautiful."
