  • This was released as Martina McBride's debut single in May 1992; it peaked at #23 on the Country chart. Speaking to Billboard magazine 25 years later, McBride recalled feeling overwhelmed by it all. "Everything was so new," she said. "I didn't know how to promote a record, or what I had signed up for. I knew nothing about the business at all. I was young and eager to make it happen, and to make it work. I remember it being a lot of hard work, and that things weren't super successful. You always dream that it's going to be a big hit off the bat."
  • McBride saw herself at the time as a neo-traditionalist country singer. She recalled: "When I made the first record, I didn't know who I was as an artist. I remember being asked 'What kind of record do you want to make?' and 'what kind of an artist do you want to be?' by the head of the record company. I didn't know. That's something you learn as you get older. I remember telling people that I wanted to be a super-traditional country artist, like Alan Jackson. That was such a big part of who I was."
  • The song was written by Susan Longacre ("Is There Life Out There" by Reba McEntire", "Leave Him Out of This" by Steve Wariner, "That Was a River" by Collin Raye) and Lonnie Wilson ("Love You Out Loud" by Rascal Flatts, "Texas Size Heartache" by Joe Diffie, "All My Friends Say" by Luke Bryan).
