What's Patsy Cline Doing These Days Pts. I & II

Album: Marvin Country! (2012)

Songfacts®:

  • This song is based on a true story about the country star Patsy Cline, who passed away in 1963. Marvin Etzioni told us: "There was a head of a label, and apparently he walked into a record company meeting wanting to break a new artist. And he said, 'We really should have this guy sing with someone.' And he said, 'What's Patsy Cline doing these days?' And I go, "Oh, my God, this is incredible.' And so that's where the song came from."

He added: "And I didn't realize that it was kind of foreshadowing the rise and fall of the record industry as we know it. (Laughing)"
