Songfacts®:

  • This poignant song is based on a true story close to White's heart from the perspective of a close friend's mother who commits suicide and asks Jesus to "bring me to the other side." He explained to The Sun: "It was just one of those ideas that hits you. I thought, 'Wow, what if the narrator was talking to God. Instead of a lover or something.'"
  • Asked by The Sun if his friend has heard the song, White replied: "Unfortunately, we are no longer in contact. I sent her the song, saying, 'Just so you know, this song is coming out and it's about your mom. I want you to hear it first.' But I haven't heard from her. So it's kind of strange."
