Songfacts®:

  • This Latin-leaning track finds Meek Mill collaborating with Brooklyn New York rapper Fabolous and Puerto Rican trap artist Anuel AA. The latter's verse, which is rapped in Spanish, finds him namechecking Louis Vuitton, Dolce, Versace and Jennifer Lopez.
  • Meek's frequent collaborator, Papamitrou, handles the reggaeton influenced production which incorporates a horn line. The beatmaker contributed to four Championships tracks in total including the Phil Collins sampling "Intro."
  • The song represented a comeback of sorts for Fabolous who hadn't been involved on a Hot 100 entry since 2013's "Ready," which peaked at #93. It was his first Top 40 hit since 2010's Trey Songz's #9-peaking "Say Aah," on which he was featured.
  • Nick Papz recalled to Billboard that Meek Mill asked him to play him some beats. When he went to one for "Uptown Vibes," the rapper's "whole face dropped" and everyone else was loving it in the studio.

Meek Mill left right after and Papz sent the beat to the rapper's phone and he then wrote his verses to it.
