Songfacts®:

  • This kiss-off anthem finds Megan Thee Stallion unleashing a tirade of explicit disses at a useless former lover. She regrets dating the dude because now she's famous and he's using his history with her to hook up with other women. These girls are her rivals and they're sharing a bed with him to spite her.
  • "Plan B" is the brand name of a birth control pill women take to help prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex. In the first verse, Megan tells her ex she used to pop the pill to make sure she didn't get stuck sharing a child with him.
  • Producers Shawn "Source" Jarrett, Hitmaka, Omar Grand and Rob Holladay's old-school '90s-style beat samples Mr. Dalvin's remix of Jodeci's 1995 single "Freek'n You."
  • Megan first teased "Plan B" on TikTok, posting a video of her dancing along to it with a friend in the car. When the Houston hottie made her Coachella debut on April 16, 2022, she debuted the track. Introducing the song, Megan dedicated it "to whom the f--- it may concern," adding that it's very personal to her.

After clips of the ex-boyfriend-bashing song went viral on social media, fans urged Megan to drop the full track. She obliged, dropping "Plan B" on April 22, 2022.
  • New York artist John Miserendino and Mugler's creative director Casey Cadwallader shot the song's music video. Megan takes center stage, rapping in front of a deep black background while sporting a selection of Mugler's signature strappy looks.
  • Megan Thee Stallion performed the song on The October 15, 2022 episode of Saturday Night Live. The rapper, who was both host and musical guest, also performed the Traumazine tracks "Anxiety" and "NDA."
