Songfacts®:

  • The title is based on the visual image Mew frontman Jonas Bjerre came up with for this song: kaleidoscopic images projected on the faces of the band members. He said the idea was "to create this other world where you're an ever-changing figure."
  • Jonas Bjerre likes to keep his songs open for interpretation, but he shared his thoughts on the lyrics in a Songfacts interview. "There is a lot of stuff about worrying about things in your life, and it's sort of a call to not worry so much, and that somethings you just can't do anything about it - you just have to get on with your life," he said. "Sometimes, the world is a very dark place, and you can feel despondent at things that happen. But some things are just out of your control and you can't let it ruin everything."
  • The rhythm for this song came from an unusual place. When the band was in an airport in Sicily, drummer Silas Utke Graae Jørgensen was pulling his luggage, which made an interesting sound. They recorded it and used that for the basis of a beat that is most clearly heard in the bridge.
