Songfacts®:

  • The third single from Matangi finds M.I.A. in one of her lighter moods as she pleads to live in the moment ("Come walk with me. You ain't got to shake it, just be with me"), and suggests she'd like a bit of companionship ("can I be your best friend?"). However the perennial provocateur cannot help undercutting the romance with her paranoid assessments of the prevalence of modern technology ("a thousand ways to meet you now, a thousand ways to track you down"), before concluding: "I'm gonna still fux with you."
  • M.I.A's regular collaborator Switch supplied the handclap-heavy beat. She told NME how a daredevil stunt attempted by the producer went badly wrong. "He fell off a cliff and nearly died when he came into the studio," M.I.A. recalled. "There was a 100ft cliff and [Switch] tried to do a dive into the sea but he slipped before he jumped and he fell. He was unconscious and all his ribs were broken and he had to go to hospital. Then when he came out we made 'Come Walk With Me.'"
