Millie Jackson told Songfacts in a 2010 interview: "I did that one messin' with Tina. It was about Ike and Tina, and the proceeds for that are supposed to go to battered women. But I didn't call any names. (singing) 'You knocked the love right out of my heart, you took my dreams and tore them apart. The day you hit me, you shoulda quit me, 'cause you knocked the love right out of my heart.'"
