Songfacts®:

  • British/Iraqi rapper Lowkey raps on this track the couplet, "I know the system and I know my place in it/ I know I'm not considered Great British." He explained to The Independent newspaper March 6, 2009: "One side of my family is Arab, from Iraq, the other from this country. My name is Kareem Dennis. I'm a British citizen, and more English than anything else." However, Lowkey added that he's lost count of the number of times he has been stopped and searched by the police, because of his Middle Eastern appearance. "And when they do that to people and then say, 'Why don't you integrate?' – we can't. I'm English and I can't be part of your society. Because I'm judged on face-value by these flipping racists."
