Songfacts®:

  • Monsters of Folk were an alternative rock band comprising Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes, and indie singer-songwriter Matt (M.). Ward. Mogis recalled to Express Night Out the recording of this track: "That one was a mostly live song too. Jim and I were playing hand drums. We did this in this pure drum circle fashion - in part we're all kind of hippies in a way - we were in a circle [Conor and Matt] they were sitting on the ground playing acoustic guitar and me and Jim had bongos between our legs and we played that song."
