Songfacts®:

  • Monsters of Folk were a side project for Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes, and indie singer-songwriter Matt (M.). Ward. Mogis explained this song to Express Night Out: "This was again a late addition that one came complete from M. Ward, pretty much. We added stuff but very minimal things. I was really moved by that song. We actually used his demo and then I recorded a bunch of keyboards and cymbals and stuff to make parts swell a little bit more and make it dreamy. It's a lullaby, something I want to sing my girl when putting her to sleep. Jim and Conor just did vocals."
