Songfacts®:

  • Stuck in a town filled with reminders of a relationship that fell apart, Morgan Wade is yearning for change. She wants to break out and make a fresh start in a place where she can bury those memories.
  • Wade co-wrote "Run" with the song's producer, Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit guitarist Sadler Vaden. The song was inspired by a lyric Wade couldn't get out of her head. "I kept thinking about this line, 'Can we fly somewhere foreign. Get me high. Mess me up until the morning?' for about two weeks," she told Billboard. "Sadler and I got on Skype and he had this guitar riff that fit perfectly."
  • Wade feels "Run" demonstrates Sadler's willingness to adapt his production to serve the song. "We both believe in that," she told Apple Music, "but this song in particular was made whole with the help of Sadler's production ears."
  • Wade released "Run" on January 5, 2022. "I think people will resonate with this song right now because most of us have been dabbling in some form of escapism and daydreaming to make it through the challenging times," she said.
  • This melancholic song is one of six new tracks Wade recorded for the deluxe edition of her debut album, Reckless.
