Songfacts®:

  • Here, a brokenhearted Morgan Wallen is drowning his sorrows in a bar. He asks the bartender to pour him another glass, "'Cause, buddy, my last drink ain't the only thing that's gone." Wallen co-wrote the song with Matt Dragstrem, Chase McGill and Josh Thompson.
  • Chris Stapleton harmonizes with Wallen in the choruses, and also sings lead on the second verse. Wallen is a fan of the "Starting Over" singer and wanted to enlist him for a duet on Dangerous. He e-mailed Stapleton several tracks to listen to, asking if any of them stood out to him.

"One of them I liked pretty good, so I said, 'Hey, let's try it out,'" Stapleton recalled to Taste of Country Nights. He added that it was his first venture into doing anything after releasing his Starting Over album in November 2020. After Wallen's people sent the track to Stapleton's regular engineer, Vance Powell, he went into the studio and sang on it without actually meeting the "More Than My Hometown" singer.
  • This is a track from Morgan Wallen's second longplayer: Dangerous: The Double Album. During the record, Wallen primarily sticks to a couple of lanes: heartache accompanied by alcohol and late night carousing accompanied by alcohol.
