  • Puerto Rican rapper and singer Myke Tower recorded "Lala" for his third studio album, La Vida Es Una. The track takes listeners on a steamy, NSFW encounter with a lover.
  • The song's title pays homage to the fiery American TV personality and actress La La Anthony, who's no stranger to sizzling sex scenes.

Yo tu Carmelo y tú mi (La-la-la-la-la-la)
    Cuando yo bajo (La-la-la-la-la-la)
    Siempre me pide (La-la-la-la-la-la)
    Yo nunca paro (La-la-la-la-la-la)

    Translates as :
    I'm your Carmelo and you're my (la-la-la-la-la-la)
    When I go down (la-la-la-la-la-la)
    She always asks me (la-la-la-la-la-la)
    I never stop (la-la-la-la-la-la)

On Christmas Day 2004, La La got engaged to basketball star Carmelo Anthony. Three years later, they welcomed their son Kiyan into the world, then tied the knot on July 10, 2010, with a lavish ceremony at Cipriani's in New York. VH1 captured every moment, turning their wedding into a reality series titled La La's Full Court Wedding. The cameras continued to roll, chronicling the couple's life in the follow-up, La La's Full Court.

Despite the glitz and glamour, their journey together faced challenges. In 2017, rumors surfaced, accusing Carmelo Anthony of infidelity with a transgender woman. La La forgave him, but the incident weighed heavily on their marriage. The love they shared couldn't escape the turmoil, and in June 2021, La La Anthony filed for divorce because of irreconcilable differences.

Here, Myke touts himself as being his romantic partner's "Carmelo."
  • Towers co-wrote "Lala" with Fara, Chalko, YannC El Armónico, J Batyxta, Orlando Jovani Cepeda Matos and Siggy. YannC El Armónico and Chalko also produced the reggaetón-powered song.
  • "Lala" went viral on TikTok in late June 2023 as users of the social media platform posted videos of themselves making a tongue movement.
  • After the song became popular on TikTok it topped the chart in multiple countries, including Chile, Ecuador, Honduras, Peru, and Spain.
  • "Lala" originated in late 2020 when producer YannC of Full Harmony dug into his treasure trove of vocal shouts and found a woman repeatedly chanting "la la" as if in a trance. YannC and his fellow Puerto Rican producer Chalko weaved this hypnotic hook into a mid-2010s reggaetón rhythm, garnishing it with a touch of vintage synth.

Fast forward to 2022, and YannC sent the beat along with seven others to Towers, who listened to it en route to his tour of Spain. "I knew I had something special," Towers recalled to Billboard of hearing the vocal sample for the first time. "I knew my fans would dig it."

Inspired, Towers penned flirty lyrics that narrate a sizzling dancefloor encounter. "After all, women are always a strong inspiration for my music," he said.
