Songfacts®:

  • "Nice To Meet You" opens with Myles Smith, perched in a club that could double as a metaphorical desert - parched of meaningful connections and heavy with the weight of solitude. But when a girl wanders into his orbit, the evening morphs into a giddy whirl of carefree dancing.

"It's inspired by stories from friends in my life," Smith shared. "A reminder that the right person can change everything, often when you least expect it."
  • Myles Smith co-wrote "Nice To Meet You" with Daniel Smith and Phil Plested. British songwriter Phil Plested is a regular songwriting partner of Lewis Capaldi, including "Someone You Loved" and "Before You Go." His other credits include Little Mix' "Touch."
  • Smith co-produced the song with his go-to producer Peter Fenn. LA producer Fenn also played the piano, percussion, bass and acoustic guitar.
  • The only outside musical touch came from Lily Honigberg, whose fiddle adds a rich texture. Honigberg is also a go-to for American musician Shaboozey, including playing on his smash hit "A Bar Song (Tipsy)."
  • The song's music video, directed by Kimberly Stuckwisch, was filmed in Austin, Texas. In addition to directing, Stuckwisch multitasked as both production and costume designer. Other videos she's directed include Margo Price's "Letting Me Down" and "Hey Child" and Angel Olsen's "Big Time."
  • "Nice To Meet You" is the opening track on Smith's second EP, A Minute.... With seven tracks that delve into connections, time, and those tiny but significant moments in life, the EP feels like a thoughtful scrapbook.

"Each song tells its own story, but they all tie into growth, reflection, and the impact relationships have on who we become," said Smith. "As a whole, A Minute is about finding clarity in uncertain times, whether in relationships or life itself. It's about those small moments that end up meaning the most."
  • Myles Smith recorded a country revamp with Lainey Wilson. Released on February 14, 2025, the remix brings a fresh Nashville twist to Smith's original folk-pop anthem, blending his signature soulful vocals with Wilson's distinctive country sound.
