Songfacts®:

  • Nathan Dawe teams up with singer-songwriter Anne-Marie and rapper MoStack for this floor filler.

Anne-Marie croons about an ex she can't let go of. Though it's been "way too long" since he was her boyfriend, she still can't stop thinking about him and is tempted to call him up.

MoStack raps about female artists he fancies, including Anne-Marie, Adele, and Mabel. However, Jade Thirlwall from the girlband Little Mix is his first choice.
  • Anne-Marie explained during an appearance on KISS Breakfast with Jordan & Perri that after she'd worked with Nathan Dawe on some tracks for her second album, he asked if he could play her one of his songs. At first she wasn't enthusiastic, as the "Don't Play" hitmaker doesn't normally do songs she hasn't written. But once Anne-Marie heard it, she totally related to the "it's been way too long" lyric. "I thought it was totally how I felt now," she said.

The songstress then laid down her vocals straight away at home.
  • Nathan Dawe, Anne-Marie and MoStack penned the song with Dayo Dyo Olatunji, Ryan Ashley, Uzoechi MNEK Emenike, Tré Jean-Marie, Daniel GRADES Traynor, and Scribz Riley.

Scribz Riley, Tré Jean-Marie, Nathan Dawe and GRADES produced the track.

Producer and topline writer Tre Jean-Marie also co-penned Nathan Dawe's breakthrough single "Lighter" and his collaboration with Little Mix, "No Time For Tears." MNEK also co-penned the latter track.
  • Anne-Marie included the song on her 2021 Therapy album.
