Songfacts®:

  • This is a song by American rapper and singer Nelly from his sixth studio album 5.0. The R&B/hip hop tune was written by Rico Love and produced by Jim Jonsin. It was released alongside another single, "Tippin' in da Club" on August 17, 2010.
  • Nelly debuted this string-heavy number during a free concert at Kiener Plaza in St Louis on July 29, 2010. He was helping to promote the city's bid for the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
  • Nelly told MTV News that the tune nearly didn't make it onto the record when he and Jonsin were working on music together for 5.0. He explained: "He was playing me a few of his beats and he played that beat, but he kind of moved on to the [next] beat pretty quick. I don't know if he thought I wouldn't like that one. [He laughs.] I was like, Wait a minute, what's that? 'Cause I love guitars, I'm a really big fan of guitars. When I heard it, I instantly was attracted to it. I got to listening and the more I listened to it, I got a vision and a feel for it."
  • Nelly discussed the song's success with Billboard magazine: "When I did the song, I knew I had something; I loved the strings in it. As an artist, you get those feelings, like when I did 'Dilemma' [with Kelly Rowland] and 'Over and Over' [with Tim McGraw]. Me, Jim and Rico... we just felt it."
