Songfacts®:

  • Fat Mike of NOFX tried his damndest to get George W. Bush elected out of office in 2004 but was unsuccessful. That didn't stop him from continuing to rail against Bush and his administration.

In this song, he compares America to the Titanic, a ship that was deemed unsinkable... until it sunk. In the song, the Titanic hits the iceberg and declares war on the Arctic.

In a Songfacts interview with Fat Mike, he explained: "It's about George Bush and how the World Trade Centers were flown into by Saudi Arabians and one Afghani, but we started a war with Iraq, who had nothing to do with it. It's the same principle as getting hit by an iceberg and blaming the Arctic. It's the same story if the US bombed, let's say, France, and France bombed Mexico. It's that silly."
  • NOFX was one of the most consistent and enduring punk rock groups, with the same lineup from 1991 until they called it quits in 2024. This song is part of their 10th album, Wolves In Wolves' Clothing, packed with short, fast songs, often without choruses. By this time, all their material was released on Fat Mike's label, Fat Wreck Chords, home to many emerging bands and others that were already established, like The Dickies and Rancid.
